We did it!
Thanks to all of you beautiful people, Mister's care has been completely paid for! Huzzah!
I've been told he's doing great. Thanks again for your kindness, compassion and generosity. Update!
Just wanted to let everyone know Mister is doing really well! He's ready to go home as soon as his human can go pick him up. We're still going to keep this open for the full week and pay the vet next Wednesday.
Also, this seems to have made the rounds a bit online (which is awesome!) and people have been asking why this wasn't just a quick eyewash situation and whether or not the dog had been mistreated prior to this, so I'd like to address those concerns. Mister needed more than just an eyewash because he was sprayed in the face and, like dogs do, licked himself after. Ingesting the pepper spray made him vomit and dehydrated him, but he wouldn't take any food or water. This happened around 1-2 AM. An emergency vet clinic was called, but they just said to bring him in if he vomited two more times, which he didn't. The vet we took him to opened at 8 AM, so Mister went about six hours without ingesting anything (the one time I saw him try, he cried). The vet did not indicate there was anything wrong with the care Mister had been receiving prior to being pepper sprayed. Thank you all SO MUCH for your support and kind comments! About Mister
Last night, Mister, one of the dogs at OWS, got pepper sprayed. We took him to a nearby vet this morning. The vet was incredibly kind and suggested keeping him inpatient, for blood tests, fluids, anti-inflammatory treatment, maybe something I'm forgetting and basic rest. He then told us to pay whatever we can; he didn't want to put a price on Mister's well being.
Like so many others, Mister's human's wallet was thrown out in the Great Cleanup of '11. I don't know if he has any savings, but he currently has no cash, credit cards, ATM card, ID, etc. I think it would be great if we could pass the virtual hat to cover some of his care. It doesn't have to be a lot, just a good faith effort so if it happens again, the doctor will be just as welcoming. |
